One of the reasons people enjoy playing Boavista is that it's always in fantastic condition. Another is the beauty of the course with its far-reaching views of Lagos Bay to the east and the Monchique mountains to the north. Designed in 2002 by famed golf course architect Howard Swan, the course uses the natural contours of the terrain to present a number of challenges, especially on holes six and eight where you have to get your ball across a ravine.

Set in a valley between Portimão and Monchique, Morgado Golf course is a challenge for both first-time golfers and more experienced players. The scorecard shows a par 73; the course path length is attenuated by the generous width of fairways. However, less accurate strokes may be penalised by the action of one of several bunkers spread across the field.

Bunkers guard most greens while the greens themselves are large and undulating, demanding a soft hand with the putter. Espiche is a shotmaker's course where each hole poses a new challenge.

Surrounded by different environments with breathtaking views overlooking the bay of Meia-Praia, this golf course provides plenty of excitement, especially in the holes framed in the sand dunes along the Atlantic coast. In a system of returning nines, the backdrop will always be the Serra de Monchique, the sea, the Alvor estuary, and the pine forest.
